Durgotsava begins on the sixth day of Navratri, popularly called Shasht Tithi, and ends on the tenth day, or Dashami Tithi. Date-wise, this year Durga Puja will begin from 8th October and will conclude with the immersion of Durga idol, which will be held on October 13, 2024.
This is perhaps one of the most significant festivals since it symbolizes the triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura in battle, representing the principle that good triumphs over evil. It is also a harvest festival: people approach it with gratitude for the nurture behind every living thing and creation, and the symbol offered to celebrate this event is only a goddess in an expression of gratitude toward the nourishment provided by the earth. She is recognized as both the nurturing force behind every form of life and the protector, the strength of whom they seek as well. It is a time for the celebration of good, devotion, and reflection on strength.
