A memorable line delivered by iSmart Shankar (portrayed by Ram Pothineni) in Double iSmart encapsulates the film’s essence: “Two minds, one body.” Ram brings both flair and style to the role. This action-filled sci-fi film serves as a spiritual successor to Puri Jagannath’s 2019 hit iSmart Shankar, reuniting the team for another adrenaline-pumping adventure.

In this film, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt makes his Telugu cinema debut and seamlessly fits into his role. Both Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt shoulder the film’s success, providing an engaging viewing experience. Ram shines with his energetic and agile performance, delivering exceptional action and dance sequences.

Now, let’s delve into the plot. Big Bull (Sanjay Dutt) leads an international drug cartel based in Argentina and aims to create chaos in India by inciting a civil war to expand his arms and drug market. Believing India to be the ultimate refuge for crime, he is determined to eliminate anyone who opposes him. However, his plans take a turn when he is diagnosed with glioma (a brain tumor).

Desperate to see his plans come to fruition, he is willing to go to any lengths to extend his life. His assistant Bently (Bani J) discovers a solution by teaming up with Dr. Thomas (Makarand Deshpande), who has been conducting experiments with transferring memories between individuals. Consequently, Bently opts for iSmart Shankar for this procedure and successfully carries out the transfer.

Double iSmart is now playing in theaters.

The rest of the plot revolves around whether Shankar will lose his memories, if Big Bull will exploit him to wreak havoc on the nation, or if the hero will confront Big Bull himself. Shankar receives support from his girlfriend Jannath (Kavya Thapar), who arrives in Hyderabad from Delhi on a mission. The film, penned and directed by Puri Jagannath, maintains a high level of excitement throughout, though the inclusion of a crass comedy track featuring veteran actor Ali feels out of place. Veteran actor Sayaji Shinde plays the RAW chief tasked with capturing Big Bull, but his role unintentionally veers towards comedy.

Composer Mani Sharma’s background score is a highlight, with the soundtrack featuring two catchy songs. Double iSmart offers a commercial blend of mass appeal, intense action, emotional moments, and solid entertainment. Released across multiple languages, this pan-India film successfully resonates with a wide audience.
