A prominent figure in India’s business sector, Ratan Tata leads one of the largest companies in the country, but his popularity stems from giving and being so generous and kind. He always cared more about helping others and taking care of his employees than making money.
Ratan Tata Achievements
Ratan Naval Tata was the chairman of the Tata Group until he retired in 2012, later stepping in as interim chairman in 2017. He has received two prestigious awards from the Indian government: the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan.
One of his major achievements was expanding the Tata brand internationally through acquisitions like Tetley Tea, Daewoo Motors’ truck division, and Jaguar Land Rover.
Under his leadership, TCS, an IT services company, went public in 2004 and became the first Indian software firm to earn over $1 billion in revenue.
During Ratan Tata’s time, Tata Motors was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He played a key role in India’s automotive industry by launching the Indica, a true Indian brand, followed by the Nano, which he personally designed. During his tenure, the Tata Group’s revenues and profits more than doubled.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Draupadi Murmu led the country in honoring the late Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also shared their condolences, remembering Ratan Tata’s values and contributions.
Foreign leaders, including Nepal Prime Minister Sharma Oli and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, offered their condolences for the passing of the Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group.
